Scholarships are now available in 2024 through a lasting partnership between ICAN Learn and CommBank, marking a significant ongoing commitment to Indigenous vocational education. This collaboration is set to further enhance a flourishing Indigenous Financial Counselling and Capability sector.
ICAN Learn will kickstart the initiative in 2024 with the CommBank CHC51122 Diploma of Financial Counselling scholarship program, a vital step for those aiming to become professional financial counsellors. The program’s success lies in its culturally competent approach, empowering local individuals to address community-specific financial issues effectively.
Tracey McCurdy, the Executive Officer at ICAN Learn, is enthusiastic about the educational offerings, particularly the inclusion of a specialised skillset CHCSS00084 Lead and Support colleagues aimed at supporting seasoned professionals to become leaders in the sector. “ICAN Learn provides flexible educational pathways that align with our student’s career aspirations. Our courses are structured to allow skill recognition and diverse employment opportunities,” McCurdy stated.
ICAN Learn operates as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a social enterprise. The revenue generated from fee-paying students and stakeholders is reinvested into broader initiatives aimed at empowering Indigenous consumers.
