Empowering Communities Through MoneyBusiness

Join us as ICAN TV1 heads to the Financial Counselling Australia Conference in Adelaide, where we dive into the transformative ANZ MoneyBusiness program. In this special “Out & About” episode, host Alex explores how this initiative is reshaping financial literacy support across Australia, particularly for Indigenous communities.

MoneyBusiness is more than just financial training—it’s an interactive, culturally relevant approach to building confidence and understanding around money. Coaches utilise hands-on tools, such as picture cards, to engage clients with low literacy or those new to basic money concepts, making financial learning more accessible and empowering.

The program’s national reach is impressive, with training delivered in locations such as Karratha, Fitzroy Crossing, Cairns, and Tasmania. In just 12 months, 23 sessions were held nationwide, with over 260 coaches trained. The feedback? Overwhelmingly positive, with participants reporting real benefits in their personal and professional lives.

Practical tools for everyone

Beyond knowledge, MoneyBusiness builds connections. Coaches speak of gaining confidence and taking vital financial conversations back to their communities. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to financial education, the program offers practical tools for every level. As one coach put it, “Probably the best course I’ve done.”

Looking ahead, the program is evolving to include new modules on digital banking and scam awareness – topics critical to modern financial wellbeing.
